This election will be held alongside Alberta's municipal elections, to help select nominees for appointment to the Senate of Canada on behalf of the province of Alberta.
This election is not binding on the Prime Minister when he advises the Governor General on appointments to the Senate. However, in the previous four senate elections, nine senate nominees have been selected; and, of these, five have received appointments to the Senate of Canada by Conservative Prime Ministers. In this election, three nominees will be selected by Alberta voters.
This is an excellent opportunity to increase the pro-life presence in Canada's Senate. CLC has recommended endorsed Senate candidate(s) for your ballot on October 18th. You'll see our endorsement when you enter your postal code in the MY BALLOT search tool (above).
